Training a puppy Training a puppy can be easier than training an adult dog as adult dogs have already some behaviors and costumes that could be hard to eliminate from them. You need to be patient with your puppy and start with the basic training such as, potty training, not barking, not chewing on things, and feed habits.
The sooner you start with the training the better. However you will have to wait to teach them other tricks until they are around 4 months old and if you are planning to train them for guard dogs they need to be at least 6 months old. For basic training you can do it yourself at home. Talk to the puppy and guide it to where you want it to pee for example. Don't yell at it or hit it, but change the tone of your voice so your puppy knows that you are serious about the instruction. It might take a while until your puppy doesn't miss at all, but in the process you need to be patient and teach him every day. Don't give up. Your puppy will learn and will surprise you when you expect it the less.
You must be careful that your puppy doesn't learn how to bite while playing. Most puppies bite and chew their toys, but if you don't teach them that their toys are the only thing they are allow to bite or chew they will learn that that habit is ok with your shoes, pillows or even other people and kids. You need to teach them the difference between biting while playing and biting as a bad behavior.
You puppy will understand and learn what is good and what is bad behavior, but remember to be patient and constant. If you don't have the time to train your puppy, you can get a private dog trainer or take it to training lessons. But believe me you can do it if you just talk and lead him every day in regular lifestyle.
